The picnic began at noon when everyone gathered in the dining room for lunch. Our food services staff outdid themselves: burgers and hotdogs grilled outdoors and served indoors, corn on the cob, chicken wings, salads, chips, etc. I'm sure there was more but I quickly helped myself to a burger, corn, and chicken and found a seat! We also knew that dessert would be served latter--after the games.
Hmm! What to choose?!
After we ate we either headed outside for games or stayed in the dining room to play bingo. I had signed up to play Family Feud so I headed outside--after taking a guess on how man starburst candies were in a beautiful ceramic container. Sadly I learned later that I had not guessed correctly. But the team I was on for Family Feud did win. So...I collected my prize and headed back inside for several games of bingo. Have to say I was not so lucky there--didn't win even one game.
Some employees got in a bit of golf practice.
These two family feud teams (above and below) seem to be having some difficulty getting started!
And then there were the bingo players!
Once we gathered back in the dining room, it was time for door prizes--and I have to say the prizes were really nice. Pretty much everyone won something and those who didn't were gifted with grab bags or invited to choose one of the left-over bingo prizes. I won a very lovely three-piece gift bag set--one fits inside the other. My kindle fits nicely into one of them and if I ever get fortunate enough to own an iPad or other kind of tablet, the largest one would be perfect.
And then--time for dessert. We lined up for a "make your own sundae" dessert--with belgian waffles, ice cream, chocolate topping, whipped cream, and strawberries.
And this is my sundae--a bit of everything!
