Join Franciscans around the world in commemorating the 60th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on December 10, 2008. Franciscans Internation, a NGO at the United Nations, has called us to a day of prayer and fasting.
Why Should We Do This?
- To commemorate the 60th anniversary of this momentous document and to remind ourselves of its continued relevance in our own world.
- To be in solidarity with our sisters and brothers--in the DR Congo; in Palestine and Israel, in India, and wherever people are suffering violence.
How Should We Pray?
Franciscans International suggested using the Peace Prayer of St. Francis or St. Francis' Canticle of the Creatures to help us to unite our voices in a cry for world peace with universal justice and respect for all of God's creatures.
